Resources

Looking for a musical activity?

There are lots of ways to get involved with music in and outside of school. I will coach youviolin for every type. If you are interested in joining a duet or an orchestra, just let me know. Below are a few of the known groups to join. (Most of these are for advanced players).

The more you do, the more you learn
As a child, I did as much as I could for music. The library is a great resource to pick up music to just play, especially around the holidays.

Sidebar (I can add that if I want, it's my site tee hee): My dad used to make me play for everyone that came by (it was amazing how the postman didn't really stop by for a visit, but...). Back then, I dreaded it (somewhat). The ham part of me didn't mind it so much ;.) I do feel that performance is extremely important. Years later, I thank my dad for saying those words: "Hey, why don't you go get your violin and play something?" Hey... OK.
Solo and Ensemble
Selecting a piece for solo and ensemble should be done with your instructor. Here is a listing for you to view for reference. Remember to think about ensembles like duets and quartets.
Review the list of solos for this year.
Purchase Supplies and Music, Rent an Instrument, Quick Repair
I recommend Pacetti's Music Unlimited for your music needs. Call 657-5031 for store hours and location (Kenosha). If you prefer to purchase items online, you may visit here.
Are you the competin' kind?
Competition can be good for you. Here are a few competitions you can get involved in. More on these to come.

Summer Camp.
If you can, I recommend going to a summer music camp. There are some for jazz, fiddle and orchestra camps. Some are more focused on music than others. Below are links to a few that I recommend.

Can't find your metronome?
Use an online metronome. If you misplaced your metronome, you can use this one for now, but I recommend that you get another one fast, as this one can be a little unsteady due to bandwidth.
